Things are shapin' up!

When we moved in, the front of the house had 2 front beds, one on each side of the porch steps edged with railroad ties filled mostly will Spireas and Barberry bushes.  The design can be found on every block and was far from attractive.  I never had any luck growing anything in front of the bushes, so....they be gone!

At one time these were MUCH bigger.  We tried to thin out the shrubs first to help them look healthier.  It didn't work out at all...this sad photo is 1 year after the initial selection process.  Kind of embarrassing...

Step 1: Remove ALL shrubs!

Step 2:  remove the timber.  Realization....everything slopes to the right

Now, I just need to decorate the side of the house!  I wish I would have photographed this while my phlox were in bloom, they were lush and lovely!
