This tree was here when we moved into this house over 10 years ago. It was MUCH smaller and we were told it was a Tulip Tree. It got much bigger and we now know it's a Magnolia tree! We prune the bottom of the tree annually so we have a nice canopy and so you can still see the house from the street. My tree seems to bloom later than many of them and fade faster. I'm wondering if that's because of the variety or age or (heaven forbid) something is wrong with the tree.

This is my tree. My centers seem darker, or maybe the flowers are just smaller, so you see more of the middle color. Still pretty, just not as showy. Once it blooms I ask for very little wind so my petals will not leave me. The fragrance is very light and sweet.
